We had this happen last night:
We are at school, the officials locker room is in the basement, between the locker rooms for the two teams, home team on one side, coaches/officials locker room in the middle, visiting teams locker room on other side, glass windows with venetian blinds on the windows, so you can just barely see thru them to see teams dressing, and in turn, can see thru from team locker rooms to see officials dressing.
Scheduled to start at top of the hour, so we are in locker room going thru pre-game. Notice it got quiet in locker rooms, checked clock, it was 20-minutes to game time and both teams had left locker room. We decide it's time to head to floor so we can be there at the 15:00 minute mark. We leave our locker room (now mind you we need to pass thru one of the team locker rooms to get to court)... find the door from home team locker room locked, no way out...go back other way through visitor's locker room to find that door also locked.. so we figure no real big deal, the AD and the home team coach both know we are in the building..so if we don't show up we figure they'll at least come looking for us. Finally after banging on door we did get attention of somebody and they "let us out" to go work the game. Finally got on the floor at about the 11:00 minute mark.
Worked the game, thought we had a good game, visitors win by 5 after being nip-tuck all game.
We leave the floor, go to locker room, again, need to go thru team locker room to get to official's locker room. Varsity crew in getting dressed, we exchange pleasantries, they head to their game, we continue to shower, change, and go to leave...you guessed it, locked in again... by now though Varsity game is going, and no way anybody can hear us pounding on door...called local police department (thank goodness we could get cell service from the basement)..police called on duty officer at school, who got ahold or Asst. AD, and we were free!!
Kind of humerous, but also dangerous, no panic hardware on doors, all dead bolts, no thumb screws on dead bolts only keyed...as we chuckled waiting for the rescue squad we laughed about if there was a problem at the school, in all likelihood we'd still be there, but at least our families would be pretty rich.
Anyone else ever been locked out of their game?
