Coming from a guy who has worked lower lever during his 7 years of being an official....I will echo this (even up to 9th grade and not even JV).
Having good players, even in 8th grade, versus lil' kids or the 8th grade rec kids is like night and day. Having worked more travel/JRHS teams this year, I am finding I have lost my patience with the younger kids and look forward to the older ones. I'll probably look to move up next year, finally.
