In FIBA, you do not get a new 8 sec count if the ball is batted away from you in the back court. If you are dribbling in the back court for say 5 sec and the ball is knocked out of bounds, you now have 3 sec to get the ball into the from court. In the same senerio, if you call a time out at the 5 sec mark, you have 3 sec left t0 get it over.
