The players and coaches know that they are not to dunk a dead ball. If they are stupid enough to dunk a dead ball and be caught by the officials too bad. I don't plan on moving to Texas, but if I did, no partner of mine would be sounding his whistle as we entered the court. I would take his whistle from him and would not give it to him until just before the start of the game. This mechanic is just a lot of nonsense because some officials are afraid to do their job and more importantly, too many coaches will not do their job.
