Tonight was supposed to be my first game. Yesterday, just after lunch, my assignor called...a coach called him panicing...they added a JV game after they submitted their schedule to him...needed officials badly.
I started to turn it down as it would mean I had to return to the office after the game to take care of something then suddenly realized it is always a good idea to help you assignor out of a tight spot and make him look like a hero to a coach.
