The funniest thing he ever told me was how Augie Donatelli thought he was such a great umpire, but he really wasn't. That story was a long time ago, but it still makes me laugh to this day.

Yes, Durwood Merrill wore an inside protector. Must you always try to contradict what I say? I'm right more often than not.
This is the protector to which I was referring. If the photo were in color, you would see that it is a light blue +POS.
Oh, and Paul...I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Durwood Merrill passed away in January of 2003, so I won't be looking him up when I travel through Hooks.
