That's a tough break. Perhaps your age played more of a factor than anybody expected. If it were "burnout" and it showed on the court, then I doubt you would've been told that you improved.
In my area, a friend of mine was encouraged to try out for the men's college conference. He did and was not accepted. This is still baffling to us, because he is a better official than THREE recently accepted officials from the same area. The only thing we can think of is that the assignor simply thought he was too old to start out at the college level.
At this point, I think it would be entirely reasonable to call the assignor and ask for a brutally frank assessment of where you stand. "I'm not complaining. I'm just wondering if you see me getting a schedule in the future, or if it's time for me to move on."
