Our association has the following positions on free kicks from the K40 (adjust yardage following penalties or safeties).

BJ - K's free kick line - K40 opposite press box
LJ - R's free kick line - 50 press box side
L - R30 opposite press box
U - R20 press box side
R - Behind deepest R player on the hash marks opposite the press box

From this position the BJ moves to the middle of the field as team K moves downfield, and officiates from the same position as for scrimmage plays.
Since most free kicks end in R's half of the field, the HL and U are close to where the play will end, and we'll set the ball and the chains.
R will follow the play as he would a scrimmage play.
