Balls hits batter in box, foul ball even if batter has one foot out. What about ball rolls in front of plate, batter's first step is out into fair territory onto the ball, though back foot still in the box? I think that's different. I'd call that an out, but maybe that's a foul, too. Of course, that's batter hits ball, not ball hits batter.
