Unfortunately, too many baseball guys step on the softball field and have no clue what they are getting into. They aren't prepared for the quicker game and can't handle it.

I thought the thing about the beanie was strange. The patent leather shoes didn't bother me at all - mainly because I have some too. I actually have both. I like them because of the ease of cleaning - wipe them off between games and it's a like new shine.

I feel sorry for your buddy. It's a bummer to walk on the field with umpires that shouldn't be there. I had a guy on my crew at the regionals in FL that was about "5 steps too far into the deep end of the pool." I actually felt sorry for him. Even the evaluators would laugh about him! It's horrible to sit and watch a train wreck happen.

I've applied for the Junior WS - I like that age the best. Maybe I'll get to come out there and meet you as well someday.
