I would recommend an Evans clinic for any umpire who wishes to improve. At the Desert Classic I attended there was a former MiLB umpire in attendance who wanted to "brush up" a bit before the season.

Although you would have to work big diamond two man mechanics, the training you receive in the mechanics of acutally making the call and signaling the call, proper timing, rules, communication, positioning, working as a team, judgment, plate work......are all transferable to any size diamond.

Jim is a trained educator, one of the best umpires in the history of MLB and still the rules "go-to" guy for many MLB umps and members of the rules committee. As a teacher I really appreciated his ability to communicate and demonstrate so that not a single umpire ever said "I don't get it."
