At least he knows there is a rule book and which rule# and section the rule is in, even if he is wrong about the rule. That's probably more than a lot of coaches.
I agree, though, REALLY bad way to approach you.
"When was the last time you read the rule book"
"When was the last time you watched a game from the parking lot?"
