Don't worry about disconnecting from those games. Chances are when the current faction retires/resigns, politics will change and someone will need Umpires for Tournaments again.
Similar sitch happened to me at this time last year. After much bru-ha-ha [sp?] from the TD, their UIC invited me back again. Here-we-go!
