Cecil - Wider ain't gonna help that first time out. They're going to be a bit stiff for a day or so.
ND - Yes, it is normal and Yes, you're that out of shape for this activity. And welcome to FP. Strecth those hamstrings - it will help prevent the ache and it will lessen the length of the ache this time.
