Speaking of blown calls
Did anyone see the 15 inning Cubs/Pirates game the other night?
Runner on 1st and 3rd sinking line drive to left, U4 goes out for catch/no catch, U3 heads toward 3rd anticipating R1 going 1st to 3rd, instead R1 hesitates and the throw comes to 2nd behind R1. U3 is still running back to 2nd in infield grass when the tag is made. he's in terrible position and on the move, never makes a signal and it looks like he glances toward U2(never had a wide enough angle to see where U2 was) to see if he was going to make a call.
It certainly appeared to be an out but the call was safe.
I don't know 4 man mechanics, but it seems to me that something was blown here.
Once U4 went out did U3 have R1 at 2nd and 3rd? If so he just overcommitted to third. If not, I'm assuming U2 should have rotated to 2nd.
I'm curious to know the rotation in this situation.
Can anyone help?
