I am an avid baseball fan as well as an amateur official. I tend to watch the umpires just as much as the rest of the game. For whatever reason, it appears to me that there have been many more missed calls this season because the umpires were not in position to see the play. I agree with the person that said that Jerry Davis was lazy....he wasn't just not hustling, he was walking SLOWLY. Another play last night was missed when the home plate umpire was out of position to see the play and called Johjima out when he was clearly safe because he was blocked by the catcher on the play.
It's one thing to miss calls. We all do it. But at that level, to be out of position because of either lack of effort or not being prepared is completely unacceptable. They get paid the big bucks for their effort. To get paid that much and not put out the effort is disgraceful.
