1-Once the B-R overruns & then returns to 1B, she may return to either color as Fed looks at this as one double-sized base (when B-R returns to 1B).
2-Yes, think about this - if the ball is dead, where is the runner? Once the ball is dead, the runner is then on the base, so this appeal would not be made during a dead ball
