ASA Rescinds Rule Change Regarding Batters Box in SP
3/27/2007

Oklahoma City---The Amateur Softball Association announced today it has rescinded a rule change for the 2007 season that changed the dimensions of the batters box for 11-inch and 12-inch slow pitch softball. Rule 2, Section 3 C of the ASA Rules had been changed to increase the size of the batters box for 11-inch and 12-inch slow pitch softball to four feet by seven feet (4’ x 7’) which would have widened the batters box by one foot.

As prescribed by Article 403 (B)(2) of the ASA Code and by a vote of 194 for and 12 against, the Emergency Rule Change rescinding Rule 2, Section 3 C of the ASA Rules was passed by the ASA Council. By rescinding this rule, the size of the batters box for 11-inch and 12-inch slow pitch softball will revert back to three feet by seven feet (3’ x 7’).

This change to Rule 2, Section 3 C of the ASA Rule Book shall take affect immediately.

There is no change to the dimensions of the batters box for 16-inch softball. The batters box for 16-inch softball will remain four feet by eight feet (4’ x 8’).
