Packer is none of those. He has a rudimentary knowledge of the game, a total lack of understanding of the rules, and his preparation amounts to nothing more than longevity as he constantly references some game from 1977. The author is correct that his routine has become tiresome and outlived its welcome.

Had the misfortune of bumping into Packer years ago in the Atlanta airport and I casually mentioned to him while waiting in line that the duke/nc game was quite a game. Maybe said one sentence to him. He gave me look as if I puked on his gucci shoes. Miserable old man. That said, he's always been a lousy color guy.
