I think it will be good if umpires use it to explain rules...but I don't believe for a moment that the TV guys can't hear what's being said during an argument (without these new microphones).
I've seen a production videotape (that is a master tape that doesn't have the commercials, but shows whats going on in the ball park at all times PLUS has the field audio microphones "ON") from the early to mid 1990's of an MLB umpire and Mr. Cox going at it for quite a long time...and trust me you could hear every F-bomb and every other name spewed forth by both.
It was pretty damn funny.
