I agreed with almost everything that the author wrote with the strong exception being:
"He loves dissecting strategies and understands the sport as well as anyone. He's always impeccably prepared. He has a knack for pointing out things before they happen. His arguments are usually well-reasoned."
Packer is none of those. He has a rudimentary knowledge of the game, a total lack of understanding of the rules, and his preparation amounts to nothing more than longevity as he constantly references some game from 1977. The author is correct that his routine has become tiresome and outlived its welcome.
