I was coaching my daughter's middle school softball team several years ago. In practice one day, a routine fly ball missed a 7th grade girl's glove and instead hit her in the face. I ran out to check on her and blood was trickling out of her mouth. When I checked, her upper lip was caught on her lower jaw teeth braces, and neither she nor I could budge it (I must say, I didn't try very hard). I took her to the school office where the principal had no luck removing it. The HS baseball team was playing at home that day and one of the team dads was a dentist and a really good guy, so we sent for him...he also had no luck dislodging it. Her mom got there about that time and we all decided she had to go to the emergency room unless Mom could contact her orthodontist, which fortunately she was able to. The ortho met her at his office, loosened the braces and finally set her free.
That poor kid was stuck for well over an hour and was a real trooper throughout. She never cried or whimpered though she was obviously hurting like hell. She also never returned to the team after that either.
