Maybe FIBA's shape keeps the big guys farther from the basket. This results in a slightly different low post play; also, it asks for wider movements of the lead, mainly in two man officiating, when the low post is on the opposite side of the lane.

The width of the lane on the baseline is 6 meters (19'8''), compared to the 12' of NFHS-NCAA lane. The free throw line has almost the same measure (3.6 meters, i.e., 11'10''), if I made right the calculations.

The court length is 28 meters (91'10'') and the width is 15 meters (49'2.5'')
