The FIBA games I've done thus far take less time to play, and I know you're not opposed to that!

Learning FIBA is not bad: it opens doors in fact. NHL Referee #7 Bill McCreary has learned IIHF rules: not only doing NHL finals every year he does Olympic assignments. NBA official Sean Corbin does a great job in the pros and also has FIBA certification.
