I agree with Tony on this. Why? If something is suspicious I'll probably call the coach out and go to the pitcher and look at her hand. If it's nothing I offer some sort of "apology" and go back to the game - if it's something - that's different. Maybe there's a purpose for being discrete but I don't know what that would be.
