I see nothing that could remotely be considered unsporting here. My take is the intent of this rule was to target players who were making some sort of statement by removing the jersey: "I fouled out and I'm upset." "I'm a star and now I'm out so the scrubs can mop up." etc.

However, the jersey T covers a lot more than unsporting acts....change for a torn jersey must even be done away from the court area.
