REPLY: Smiley...you're correct, and you point out a problem with the wording in the Fed rule. It says in so many words that if there's a foul during the play and the penalty is accepted, "...the inadvertent whistle is ignored." It's not ignored! It still kills the play. What's ignored is the procedure for dealing with the IW.
