Goofy

Mens modified NSA
R1 on 1B
1 out

B3 hits a hard liner to F6 who makes the catch for out #2.
He throws the ball to F3 to try to get the retreating runner on the LB appeal.
The throw is clearly in time but the BU calls the runner safe. The defense asks for him to check w/ PU. BU was blocked on the play so he asked for help. PU walked out to BU and told him that he had an out. BU made the call and the game was over.
Now the Funky part
The Offense started griping up a storm then the defense declared that F3 even admitted that he was safe. Yes the defense was actually trying to give up an out. The game was over but the Offense felt ripped especially since the defense tried to back pedal on the call that they actually prompted when they asked for help from the PU.
Was this a case of attempted umpire nullification?
F4 was griped about a called 3K earlier in the game. Maybe he thought it was a way to discredit the umps.
