I would never plan to regularly use tape on a floor when it's being repainted anyway. Do the job right. There are thousands of gyms across the US that have both sets of lines on their floor (and some with several more sets) that have no trouble with them.
I agree, paint 'em on. Just make sure you use contrasting colors. Otherwise some hapless rookie might accidently let a player shoot freethrows from the volleyball line. At least the crowd seemed to think I did. I was too nervous to notice
