The first camp I went to I was taught to toot it a couple of times, let all the attention focus on you, and then give the T signal, the reason for this was so that you don't give the T so quickly that no one but a few people see it and no one knows what has happened. In my not always so humble opinion, I wouldn't do it. Give the T without being overzealous or overdramatic and go on with the game. Multiple whistles seem to draw too much attention to it for me.
