Here is a crazy play someone told me about and thought I would pass along and get some feedback on. A runner on second and outs do not matter. Pitcher throws a wild pitch that gets away from the catcher, as he goes to retrieve the ball he has trouble finding it. The runner rounds third, sees the catcher struggling, and continues home. The pitcher sees the ball and runs to retrieve it. All of a sudden both catcher and pitcher run to the plate as the runner slides home, the tag is applied by BOTH players. The umpire, having excellent timing asks to see the ball and BOTH catcher and pitcher show him a ball! As it turns out, the pitch previous to the wild one was fouled back and the on deck hitter secured it and set it down on the ground and continued to warmup. The catcher grabs that one and the pitcher grabs the other. How would you handle this one and why.
