Sunflower Seeds Forbidden On A Field

I was just reading a post from way back when about it being ridiculous to forbid the use of sunflower seeds on a field. The local Cal Ripken Field where I am from has this rule. The is no Gum-Chewing or Seeds allwoed on the field or in the dugout. Why? Because we just got Field Turf installed and the seeds shells can clog the drainage alogn with the gum. On a regular field a lawn mower and nature will get rid of the seeds. On field turf, the seeds will sink into the drainage sytem.
