I was late on this thread

More's the pity. The beaver jokes appear to have run their course. Maybe.

Congratulations, Oregon State. I had a friend, Will Keim, who was a Philosophy professor out there years ago. We fell out of touch. Maybe he still teaches there. He was also a pitcher at Pacific in the early-mid '70s and used to tell the funniest stories . . . I digress.

Will once told me that Corvallis is the only major college town in America more obscure than Fayetteville. I corrected him with Starkville, Stillwater, College Station and a few others. I also told him nobody who was not a geography major or a Nike exec knew where the hell Eugene was, either.

The better team (on this particular night, at least) won. Congratulations! And you know what? I heard not one commentator talking about how the umps "stole" the game and gave it to Oregon State. You can bet that if Mark Cuban was a Tar Heel alum, you'd be hearing exactly that.

Good for y'all. Now next year, the SEC can reassert its rightful dominance of the College Baseball world. My Hogs have been devestated by graduation and the draft, though . . .

Strikes and outs!
