No run can score if the batter-runner is out prior to reaching 1B (when the batter becomes a runner), regardless of method (tag, touch, desertion, strikeout, etc). So in the above you are correct,
if the count had been 2-0. But it wasn't.
Why are you troubled? It's quite cut-and-dry.
