Caught fly ball in foul territory, then fielder goes out of play
ASA SP. No outs. R1 on 2B, R2 on 1B. B3 hits a long fly ball. F7 sprints into foul territory, makes a running catch, then his momentum carries him beyond the out of play line. Do we have a dead ball, and both runners advance one base?
Same situation, but this time, after F7 has caught the fly ball while in foul territory and his momentum is taking him out of play, he throws the ball back to the infield, and the ball rolls into the dugout, and out of play. Regarding F7's positioning relative to the out-of-play boundary when he releases the ball, at what point do we have two-base awards for the overthrow out of play, versus a one-base award for F7 going "out of play" before releasing the described errant throw? Is F7 not considered out of play until an entire foot touches down out of play?
