I guess it would depend on what you consider a $h!tty game. I do not consider a close call or two as the definition of a $h!tty game.
After every game I review what went right and what went wrong. What could I have done personally to make the situation better? Were there things out of my hands I could not control? I might review a rule I was not sure about whether the game was good or not. I will review the mechanics or philosophies whether.
The bottom line is whether a game is good or a game is bad you should have a similar approach to each game. Even when you have a good game you cannot just be satisfied and think you are the greatest umpire that ever lived. You are only as good as the last game you worked.
