Ramon Armendariz was the one who got the call.

Reliford's normal crew rotation is: Reliford, Vanover, Gibson, and Nauert, from home to third.

Nauert called balls and strikes in the opener on Thursday afternoon, with Reliford at first, Vanover at second, and Gibson at third.

Vanover called balls and strikes on Friday night, with Gibson at first, and Nauert at third.

Had Reliford been there, he would have called balls and strikes on Friday night, with Vanover at first, Gibson at second, and Nauert at third.

Gibson called balls and strikes yesterday afternoon, with Nauert at first, Armendariz at second, and Vanover at third.

Nauert called balls and strikes again this afternoon, with Armendariz at first, Vanover at second, and Gibson at third.

My question from this situation is this: Were they not able to get Armendariz to San Francisco in time for Friday's night game, which was delayed nearly two hours by rain? Because, as a result of Reliford's injury, Nauert got two plate jobs in this series.

As far as the doubleheader went in Philadelphia earlier today, turns out that they used Laz Diaz in place of a regular AAA fill-in (James Hoye) to fulfill the five-man crew now regularly used in doubleheaders.

Tim Tschida would have worked Game 1 at first, obviously giving way to an AAA fill-in, who would work third in Game 2, while Tschida would have the plate. Diaz, having worked the plate Friday night, would obviously be scheduled for third in Game 1.

Instead, Diaz played the AAA fill-in. Hoye worked third in Game 1, filling in for Diaz, technically speaking, and second in Game 2, again, filling in for Diaz, technically speaking. But Tschida had Game 1 off, and Reed had Game 2 off.
