In the 2004 FIBA intrepetations it was stated that we should apply advantage/disadvantage to some violations. The specific examples were minor travelling infractions )lifting pivot before releasing ball) in the back-court when there was no active defense. The other one was similar, if the player inbounding after a basket doesn't completely go out of bounds, but so long as it isn't a fast-break opportunity, the violation shouldn't be called.

However, it was also stated that this is an area where officals should err on the side of calling the violation.
