"Not here in CA but I did see a first year official the other night wearing one working a Frosh/JV game. He also was wearing black pants with a belt and white socks! At the end of his JV game he came to our dressing room and told us we needed to T the home Varsity team because they dunked during halftime of the JV game. It was quite comical!"

Instead of just laughing at the new guy, did anyone point out or explain his kit issues to him? Or explain why the T he wanted wasn't appropriate? Did his partner not say anything to him? New guys need to be mentored, not made fun of. And if a first year guy is already working a JV game then someone (i.e., the assigner) must see something positive in him.
