Insatty, I appreciate your thoughtful response. I just disagree with J/R on their interpretation of this. For a resource to be helpful to me, it has to be somewhat related to how the game is played in "real life", not as some theoretical calesthenics in rule parsing. I really go with Evans on this one.

One of the original sitch's that was posed during this discussion was F3 being run into by the BR after securely gloving the ball and tagging the base for the out. The release was clearly "involuntary". I posed a situation in "unrelaxed" action ( to use the J/R phraseology), however I contend that in this situation, once the bag is tagged for the out the action immediately becomes "unrelaxed".

We may be in violent agreement or not, I just can't see calling that runner safe in this situation.
