Hello All,

Pat and Ref-X: What part of NJ do you two officiate? I recently moved from NJ to PA. I took the NFHS Exam in PA and I'm now a PIAA Official. I was going to do the IAABO course, but moved before the classes started. Since I've joined my local PA chapter, I have not received any assignments. I have received assignments in NJ though. Met a few guys from when I did live in NJ and now have a Freshman and JV game tomorrow and I am not IAABO. I've heard that you have to be IAABO but my assignors don't care. If an IAABO board doesn't accept me as a transfer, I'm just going to keep it the way it is.

I've noticed that whether you're in PA, NJ or not even carded, there are horrible refs all over. Just this weekend, I took my son to his b-ball practice. There was a game on another court. Decided to watch and noticed there was only one ref. Thought to myself, "should I grab my gear". Before I made up my mind, I noticed the other official running out of the bathroom. I asked one of the parents, "did he just arrive". They told me that he was already officiating and just ran off the court. Go Figure!!! I couldn't believe it... I watched a little more and noticed that neither one of the officials were hustling. Both of them walked up and down the court. They really made the profession look bad. Can you imagine action in the frontcourt and the ref standing in the backcourt, under the basket waiting? That's what really happened.

It just blows my mind... And I'm sure they'll be scheduled again.
