I worked a pre-season varsity game tonight and had an interesting situation.

Earlier this fall, somebody out there posted his state's newly adopted rule, which states that the coach must replace a disqualified player immediately, instead of getting 30 seconds to make the substitution.

Apparently, I thought this was a really good rule, b/c I enforced it tonight. A1 fouled out, Coach A calls team over to huddle, and I say "Nope, Coach, it's not a time-out. Just give me a sub, please. Gotta sub him immediately." He gave me a blank stare and then brought the sub off the bench.

You know what? I really DO like the rule. I just wish I hadn't enforced it in a state that doesn't have that particular rule.

I posted this on the "other" board, just to cover my bases; but I'm pretty sure that I read it here.
