Fastpitch ASA, NFHS, AFA, etc.
R1 on 2B, R2 on 1B, one out. Batter hits ground ball
to 2B side of F6 who fields the ball and steps on 2B,
turns and throws to F5. R1 seeing that she would not
make it retreats to 2B and because of a bad throw by
F5, she is back on 2B. Defensive coach calls time and
argues that R1 cannot retreat to a base that she has
been forced to leave. I informed coach that
the force had been removed, and if R1 so desired she
could return. Were no protest in this tournament but
he most unhappy. Should he have been? Am I missing
something?
thanks,
glen
