I am looking to purchase new gear for this yearÂ’s season.

What do you guys think about...:
the new mesh referee shirts?
I use mesh shirts when I do lower level games (jr. high, freshman, JV). When it comes to Varsity level games, I think the poly shirts look a lot sharper. The white stripes on mesh shirts tend to "gray" out if you wear a black undershirt. From what I can tell, the OC mesh shirts look sharper than the Honig's mesh shirts I wear.
pleated or non pleated pants? The trend seems to be moving toward the pleated pants. Personally, I think they look and feel better than non pleated pants.
belt or belt less? absolutely no belt!!!
Fox40 Classic, Pearl, Mini? Classic is the old standby but it's easier to talk with the Mini. Avoid the Pearl unless you want to look like the official who forgot his whistle and had to steal one from the coach's desk.

Suppliers? I've had positive experiences with Honig's and Gerry Davis. There are mixed reports about Official's Choice.

Also... What do you carry onto the court for AP arrow? Bands? Extra Whistle? I use my back left pocket as the indicator. If it's closed, the ball goes to the right of the table. If it's open, the ball goes to the left.

Any tidbits can help and will be appreciated...

Thanks
Pat

Bottom line: It all comes down to personal preference and what your conference/assignor/association say you should wear. I've seen good officials wearing a mesh shirt, non pleated pants with a belt and a pea whistle and I've also seen bad officials with a polyester shirt, pleated pants and $6 whistle.
