Check the principles chart in the back of the rule book. All live ball fouls against the defense are enforced from the end of the run. Since this was a running play the foul is enforced from the end of the run.
Be careful with using the phrase, "Go with what hurts them the most." This isn't always true. I had an example somewhere but it's too early to remember. Check out this thread from a while back:
