#1 is a violation.... why? Did he bat it with two hands? When he batted it, was his hand under the ball? After he caught it with two hands, did he try to continue dribbling? I know we've gone over this before, but it apparently didn't sink in. Would some patiently condescend to explain this again? Thanks

Rule 4, under definition of dribble, you'll find something that looks like this:
A dribbler is allowed to bat the ball provided he allows it to strike the floor one or more times.
#2 Official is wrong.
