no touching the lines

Bart,

Under this year's NCAA Women's rules, no player can touch any of the lines during a free throw. The defensive players closest to the basket will now be above the low blocks, which eliminates the lowest position which is still used in NF and NCAA mens. Last year the women could stand on the low block, but since that position has been removed, all players must stay "between the lines".

Defensive players MUST be in the lowest spots on each side of the lane, offensive players have the option to be in the next space on each side of the lane, and defensive players have the right to be in the top lane space on each side of the lane. If the offensive players opt not to occupy their spaces, or the defensive players nearest the shooter opt to not occupy their spaces, those spaces must remain vacent.

This year the defense may have 4 players along the lane, which is up from 3 last year.
