The Boston Globe reported this morning that Vanover had back pain and was a late scratch. I'm guessing Carlson was on hand as a back-up and pinch-hit for him. The rotation change might me in case Vanover can't be back for today's game two; this way Miller gets the plate today. If Vanover is in today, he'd be out a second base I guess. The report didn't say if he's miss the whole series, just that he was replaced in game one.
