"Moving in" might be a poor choice of wording.
In order to let the ball take BU to where the play is, BU must be looking at the ball which is on the 3B line. Getting a good read requires some focus which might hinder peripheral vision along the 1B line.
This sounds like a situation where the umps need to communicate better with each other.
