Yeah, it was a short trip, just shy of two months. Next time, it will likely be four to six months (the joys of the Air Force verses the Army), but that won't likely be for another year and a half or so.
Incidentally, I was actually in Qatar at a hub base. My Dad went to Iraq shortly before I came home, and he stopped at my base for a ten-hour layover. We'd thought he'd have a few days, but ten hours was better than nothing.
Instead of the beer I'd hope to have with him, I was able to settle for dinner with him. He also brought me some pictures of my son.
It was a good trip, in all honesty. I learned a lot and did a lot. I'm also in better shape for basketball season. After all, that's the most important thing. Although I did refrain from volunteering to officiate their IM leagues, as I had little interest in adult ball this summer.
